As a photographer, engagement portraits are some of my favorite sessions to photograph. I get a glimpse into how you “engage” with each other. It's about producing honest, organic, and timeless portraits!
Here are a few tips to help you navigate through your portrait session.
Engagement sessions gives me at least an hour of time to get to know you guys. I can how feel in front of the camera, watch you interact, and learn personality traits! All of these things are great to learn before the big day! Just be yourself.
Book your session at least 6 months before the wedding! Perfect for ave the date cards, wedding websites, social media pictures!
Location – Location – Location. I think I have my finger on the pulse when it comes to location sessions – but honestly, sometimes my clients come up with some pretty cool spots. I’m open to suggestions.
Have you ever heard of the golden hour? Here’s a little hint – it’s not 2pm! Schedule a time that is going to provide the most flattering light!
Wear clothes that match your personality. Here’s a crazy thought, have your fiancé pick an outfit out for you. Have a backup of course!
As for the couple featured in this blog - they are awesome! We planned the session at the golden hour and plenty of time before the wedding! We traveled about an hour outside of Richmond to the family home on the Rivah! We had a great time, lots of laughs and tons of fun images. We're excited to photograph their wedding this September!
